For systems that are conforming, a summary of the judgement report will be published, including the scores on criterion level. For non-conforming systems a note will be published with the principles and criteria which particularly need improvement. Furthermore a report of the stakeholder forum discussions will be made public, containing at least the received comments and the consequences for the assessment of the criteria and principles concerned. The assessment will be revised within 5 years.

Current activities TPAC

The table below shows which systems are currently in the assessment procedure of TPAC. The 'current assessement status' indicates the last step in the asssessment process which has been finalised.

Systems under assessment of TPAC: Current assessment status (Dec 14, 2009):
-  PEFC International -  Second review
-  MTCS* -  Second review

* The MTCC standards for sustainable forest management that is under assessment by TPAC is ‘MC&I[2002]’. The MTCC standard for the Chain of Custody which is being assessed by TPAC is ‘SO 1/2008’ and ‘Annex 4’ (of the PEFC standard). These standards are also apporved of by PEFC International and after the accreditation process has been carried out, this timber will enter the PEFC Chain of Custody. (TPAC does not assess: ‘MC&I[2001]’ which will be out of use after 17 October 2009, nor ‘MC&I [Forest Plantations]’ which is not used yet, nor ‘RCOC’ which is out of use since June 2009.)

Assessment status
The following catagories are disctingueshed for systems which are assessed by TPAC:

  • Assessment in progress: The status of assessment in progress will change when the procedure is postponed, or when the procedure is concluded. The assessment consists of the following steps;
    Assessment procedure TPAC

    For information about these steps can be found under 'TPAC assessment procedure'.
  • Procedure postponed: “Procedure postponed” indicates that the assessment procedure of a specific system is suspended under specific conditions for a specific period of time. The conditions (for example issues x, y and z have to be improved) will be communicated to the System Manager. In consultation with the System Manager the time period will be determined. If after expiration of the time period a clear indication exists that the conditions are met, the assessment procedure will be resumed. There is no need for a new application. Both the conditions and the time period are public. If after expiration of the time period no significant improvement has taken place the procedure will be concluded",
  • System withdrawn: Systems that had requested the assessment themselves, can withdraw their system from the assessment procedure after conclusion of the assessment procedure. The withdrawal will be made public in the table above,
  • Final judgement: When the assessment is concluded by the Committee and the system is not withdrawn by the System Manager, the assessment procedure ends with publication of the judgement. Two final judgement categories can then be awarded: “System conforming” or “System not conforming” to the Dutch Timber Procurement Criteria.

The complete assessment procedure can be read in the User Manual (see documents).
